Agent Factory

Definition

An agent factory is a repeatable system for producing AI agents: shared building blocks for model access, tools, data and guardrails, a standard way to evaluate each agent before release, and the monitoring and governance to run agents in production.

Many organizations build their first AI agent as a one-off pilot. An agent factory is what replaces the pilot when the second, third and tenth agent arrive: the same components, permissions model, evaluation and approval rules are reused, so each new agent starts from a tested base instead of from scratch.

What an agent factory includes

  • A defined workflow and a measurable definition of success for each agent
  • Tools and permissions scoped to what the agent may and may not do
  • Evaluation against test cases before release
  • Human approval for actions that carry real risk
  • Logging, monitoring and a way to improve the agent after launch

Agent factory vs software factory

A software factory ships software; an agent factory ships agents. The two often meet, since agents can work inside a software factory. See how we build agents for clients on our agent factory page.
